First Day Outfit

Tuesday, September 24, 2013

In an attempt to be more organized, I've selected what I want to wear for my first day of college class. It is imperative to save as much time as I can in the morning because I have a 40 mile drive to survive (my worry is traffic!). I went with comfortable clothes because I will be walking a lot, and carrying books. The weather is still warm so I've gone for tight capris instead of jeans and a mid sleeve shirt. I really like my capris because it isn't baggy. I recently bought my white Converse and I love them. I'm not sure how I will accessorize, but hopefully all goes well!

Ruffled Black Stripped Shirt - Forever 21
                                Burgundy Capris - JcPenny
                                White Converse - Lady Footlocker

Do you pick out your clothes early? What would you wear on your first day?

The Autumn Tag

Saturday, September 21, 2013

Image Source. The photos in this post do not belong to me.

Who doesn't love Fall? The weather gets cooler, the nights are longer. More sleep. Warm attire, warm drinks. Halloween, Thanksgiving, and of course Autumn makeup/fashion. I saw "The Autumn Tag" floating around on some of my favorite blogs so I thought I'd join in on the fun!

Favorite thing about Autumn?
I love everything about Autumn, but when I was a little girl I loved the manner in which the leaves changed color and fell to the ground. This always happened when my family and I lived in our old house. We had two giant trees in front of our house. Every year at the end of September towards the beginning of October the leaves would fall one by one. Eventually the tress wouldn't have any leaves, and we were left to pick them all up. I always found it strange that they would all fall to the ground and slowly regrow once the sunnier months unraveled. It was a sign that the year was coming to an end soon.

Favorite drink?
Warm coffee in the mornings, and delicious hot cocoa in the evenings.

Favorite Scent / Candle?
Would you believe me if I said that I have never in my eighteen years of existence burned a candle? It seems like such a popular thing to do, but I guess I just never caught on. I am determined to try one this year. Hopefully I don't burn the house down aha. I like the smell of pumpkins and spices.

Best lipstick?
Mac's Diva is my top choice for Autumn. It's a beautiful red almost burgundy color. It makes me look very vampiric.

Go to Moisturizer?
Simple's Replenishing Mosturizer. It's light yet very hydrating. My skin loves it so far!

Favorite Music?
I've been loving the new music on the radio aka the mainstream top 10 on iTunes. Specifically Dark Horse - Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus - Wrecking Ball, and Lorde - Royals. I've been listening to The Script, The Bath is Black by Marika Hackman, and Say Yes by Elliot Smith.

Go to color for eyes?
I love golds and plums on my eyes. I want to try a cranberry color because it is also a beautiful color for Fall.

Favorite outfit to wear?
A knit sweater with a scarf, dark jeans or legging, and boots!

Autumn Treat?
Pumpkin Pie or Starbucks Lattes.

Favorite Place to Be?
Outside in the rain or inside wrapped in my Toy Story blanket (very girly I know..).

That's it for my Autumn Tag. I'm definitely looking forward to shopping for new clothes, trying some candles, and drinking lots of hot cocoa! I tag anyone that's reading this post to do "The Autumn Tag" on their blog!

What I Would Buy #1

Thursday, September 19, 2013

1)  I've been wanting the Zara Mini Office City Bag for the past week. It's been an intense to buy or not to but type of dilemma. I've heard great things about Zara's handbag quality, and distinctly remember the buzz around the Zara Mini Shoppers. I regretted not buying a Mini Shopper which is part of the reason why I want this one. My current hand bag is too big to cary around all the time. I usually use it to store my folders or laptop. This might sound silly, but I really want it because I'm tired of carrying keys and money in my pockets. I end up being too lazy to whip out my larger bags so I might give into temptation. It also comes in burgundy, but I think I like the navy better and it matches a majority of my wardrobe.

2) For me, skincare isn't the most exciting topic. I've been lucky enough not to struggle with acne only pesky zits that go away fairly quickly. I over look it so much that I've been forcing myself to put together a decent skin care regime. I definitely want to try the Caudalie Make-up Removing Cleanser. Cleansing waters sound very appealing because my skin is a little sensitive. The  price tag is a little daunting, but I think it will make a great treat for my skin. For now I might opt for the L'oreal Micellar Solution.

3) Now that the weather is cooler, I can safely say Autumn is here, and I can finally wear boots again. Last year I went crazy with the slightly below the knee boots so this year I have been eyeing some ankle boots. The Mania Shearling Desert Boots are so cute and versatile. I've been loving burgundy for the cooler weather so these are definitely up my street.

4) Nars Eyeshadow Palette - Fairy's Kiss is a limited edition palette. How gorgeous does it look? It is perfect for fall makeup looks. The lighter shades are great for day time and the darker shades for smokey eyes. The purples are what attracts me. I find that they compliment brown eyes as well as green ones.

Out of these four, I think I will choose the Zara bag, but I'm not completely sure yet.
What do you think? Are there any products you've been wanting to buy?

Review // L'orèal EverCrème Sulfate Free Moisture System Shampoo and Conditioner

Sunday, September 15, 2013

My hair has been through hell this past year. Why did I continuously bleach my hair? I don't know. It wasn't worth it. I went through a "I think I'm as funny as Emma Stone" type of phase and decided I needed gingery red hair to match. The problem with bleaching my hair was that its natural color is very dark. I'm not talking brown. I'm talking black like the night sky or ebony to more precise. I could not handle the roots.  My hair became very dry and damaged to the point where it began to resemble dead grass due to the infamous ombré effect I created at home. I've tried many shampoos and conditioners both inexpenisve and expensive and the only shampoo and conditioner that worked for me were the Loreal EverCrème Shampoo and Conditioner. I already jumped on the bandwagon with these but I could not help myself. I noticed a huge difference within my first wash. It is a lot smoother, silkier, and healthier. I can actually run my fingers through my hair without my fingers getting stuck.

The only thing that bothers me deeply is the packaging. I wish these were in big bottles instead of small tubes. I can already predict that I will run out very quickly because my hair is thick.
The scent is heavenly. To me it smells similar to brown sugar which I love.
Right away I noticed a difference when I was washing my hair. The L'oreal EverCrème Shampoo didn't lather much until I added more water to it. I kept in for a few minutes while I was cleansing my face with a new beloved cleanser (more about that later). My hair instantly felt softer. Sometimes when I use drugstore shampoos my hair tends to feel very dry and stiff until is conditioned. The L'oreal EverCrème Conditioner made it even softer and untangled easily. It felt so lush, and clean. My hair remained this way throughout the following day. I used it alongside my favorite Garnier Fructis Moroccan Oil, and together the trio is amazing.
I wouldn't recommend these if you have oily hair. Since my hair is very dead at the moment it works perfectly. The shampoo can also be used on its own. I love to use it when I work out and want my hair to be clean, but not too oily. If you have bleached hair or are recovering from it you might want to check these out. I have never seen such improvement in my hair. Usually the damage is masked only by my slow transition back into my natural dark hair. I am very tempted to try out the rest of the EverCrème brand especially since it is very affordable.
It's a yes from me.

Will you be hopping on the bandwagon? Have you tried anything similar these?

New Makeup Bits

Tuesday, September 10, 2013

New products made it into my collection this week. I swear it wasn't intentional but since it was my birthday last week I thought I would enjoy some new makeup products guilt free. I plan to go on a spending ban soon because since I've opened a bank account with my own money I have learned the value of a dollar the hard way. My friends wanted to treat me so I thought why not? I know that the Show Off Lip Lacquers or better known as the Apocalips are old news, but I've been wanting them for a long time. I could have sworn I heard they were stains, but I was wrong which was a bit of a disappointment.I found them when I wasn't even searching for them in Walgreens which is the one drugstore I never go to. They were on sale so I had to have them anyway. I chose only three, but I was urged to pick more (I love my friends). I should have suspected that Celestial wouldn't suit me, it is a very peachy shade which doesn't work with my skin. I don't know if it's my hair color or undertones, but something about my face makes coral or peach look terrible.
Covergirl is my cursed brand because I love most of their products, but for some odd reason my skin has had a bad reaction to their foundations. They give me breakouts and rashes. I thought I would play it safe and try a blush Covergirl Clean Glow 3 in 1 Blush. It claims to give a "clean glow" which sounds appealing since it is the beginning of allergy season for me. I've been sneezing a lot already and my skin often appears dull especially when I have classes and lack of sleep. I look forward to trying out these new bits, and reviewing them soon!

Have you made any purchases this month?

Origins Super Spot Remover

Sunday, September 8, 2013

Blemishes love to make various unwanted appearances on my face. That is my only skin problem, spots! They just randomly show up, and make me feel insecure because I don't usually have breakouts. Since I have been trying to up my skin regime I decided to pick up this product because it has been very hyped, and I just really want to try a product by Origin (what a great reason....*eyeroll*).

Origins Super Spot Remover contains Salicylic Acid which essentially helps to clean and exfoliate skin cells. It is efficient against a blemish because it penetrates the spot unclogging it causing it to clear up. A small amount goes a long way while using this product. I find myself barely squeezing the bottle and using a tiny pint size drop. When I use it, I feel a tiny burning sensation that quickly calms down. It depends what type of spot I am dealing with. If the spot hurts within a few hours the pain calms down as well as the size. I prefer to use it during the night time because once it is applied you can sort of see the gel on my face. It is a really got spot remover, I wish the bottle was bigger (I was horrified when I first saw it). I highly recommend trying this little bad guy out if your looking for a new spot treatment.
Let me know of any other spot removers you've tried?

Fall Lipsticks

Wednesday, September 4, 2013

CoverGirl 260, Mac Russian Red, Estee Lauder Rubellite Shimmer, Mac Diva,  Kate Moss 111

Although the weather is still obnoxiously hot in California, it is time to put away the bright colored
lipsticks and bring out the lovely dark lipsticks. Personally, I am a red lipstick type of girl, so I will wear it regardless of what time of the year it is, but since fall is approaching I can now wear it without feeling guilty or judged. Here are my favorite lipsticks for this season (I will probably be buying more). I hope you enjoy and let me know what lipsticks you like for the fall season?

201 CoverGirl Jumbo Stick is not very pigmented. I was kind of disappointed because I was expecting it to be similar to the packaging color. It is very moisturizing, but sheer.
Mac Russian Red is a classic red. It is very pigmented and long lasting. Its blue tones do not cause yellowness.
Rubellite Shimmer Estée Lauder looks more like a Summer color when swatched. The color can be built and it appears more as a bright purpley color. It is moisturizing and veyr pigmented.
Mac Diva is a bit drying but very long lasting and pigmented. It is a deep almost burgundy color. It looks great, but might not be for the light hearted. It has a vampiric look to it (with lighter skin).
Rimmel Kate Moss 101 Kiss of Life another lovely red. It is more on the red side than Russian Red, and not as drying. It does have an odd smell to it, but I love it for the price.

August Favorites // 2013

Sunday, September 1, 2013

Where does the time go? Cliché, I know but it's so true! It feels like only yesterday I was planning out my eating/exercise routine for August, and now the month is over. I can't believe I actually stuck my "diet" for a month (they usually last a week or two). I'm so ready for September & the rest of the year to unravel and bring lots of surprises! Here are my favorite products of August!

Mac Mineralized SkinFinish  -  Soft & Gentle
My first highlighter, I have to admit I always end up crawling back to it and this month was no different. My skin tends to lighten up at the end of summer and during the upcoming fall seasons. Thanks to my allergies I tend to appear ill and dull. I love this highlighter because it makes my skin look dewy and healthy. It's a gorgeous champagne color with flecks of gold and pink shimmer that brightens up my face. If you don't mind shimmer/glittery-ness than this product is perfect!

Revlon Photoready Cream Blush  - Coral Reef
I'm not quite sure why it looks so hot pink in the picture! I assure it's not, it is orange. I have searched high and low for this cream blush. The one day I go to Walmart to buy other things I happen to find it. It is a beautiful coral cream blush with a natural glow. The blush is not as pigmented as it appears to be which may be a deal breaker for some, but I find it builds up easily on my skin. It beautifully blends into a natural color. A full review of this lovely blush will be coming soon, so tune in!

Rimmel London Kate Moss Lipstick - 90 Rossetto
Kate Moss Lipsticks have been dominating in the drugstore world. Being a lipstick lover, I own four of them (I've lost 3.....), and they are my favorite lipsticks of the moment. I picked up this lipstick out of spite when I could not find the Show Off Lip Lacquer and I was pleasantly surprised by it. It is quite creamy and hydrating. It's a beautiful hot pink shade that isn't drying or over the top. It reminds me of Impassioned from Mac.

Revlon Color Stay Long Lasting Enamel Nail Polish - 040 Provence
I've been trying out some different nail polishes, and my favorite this month is from Revlon. I love the brush it applies the polish evenly, and easily. I'm not the best at painting nails, but the brush does help me not make a huge mess. The color is a lightish grayish lavender. It's really pretty for sunny days and it lasts a few days without chipping. I really want to get my hands on more these for the upcoming fall season.

I hope you've enjoyed this post and let me now what products you've been loving this month!
